Hi All,

Finally, I have got round to giving you some kind of explanation for the sudden 'disappearance' of VQS Shows.

My apologies to those of you who I know are avid Quota Show listeners, and those who like to use it as an outlet for exposure of their music.

With a family issue pressing on virtually all of my time since the start of October,and an increase in my instructing workload outside of music, I have been unable to find any spare time, and therefore unfortunately VQS has had to bite the dust, just for a  short while.

I am now back in the studio, working hard to put the finishing touches to my album, which also as a  result of all this has had to be put on hold (it's original release was Christmas but it will now be later)- That is coming on well- and when that is finished, VQS will return. Possibly, that time will come before Xmas, but since we would have to break again shortly afterwards, I have decided the sensible option is to start again in the New Year.

VQS Team is working along with myself to continue to handle the incoming of all the submissions we recieve, and is keeping up our valuable contacts with the record labels and management companies with which we work closely, so that when we return, we will still have everything in tact and ready for you.

WE MASSIVELY APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT AND PATIENCE DURING THIS TIME AND HOPE YOU WILL CONTINUE TO ENJOY THE ARCHIVED SHOWS UNTIL WE RETURN.

Hi all-

Well, following our post in blog last week, and considering VQS's standing as an acclaimed distributor and promoter of some of the world's most excellent new music, and your feedback which proves as much- I have decided to keep it running- for now at least.

Of late, there have been wide reports that podcasting is suffering in general, and if that is true, then we have to not shrink away but attempt to be part of a podshow revolution which turns that around- for the good of thousands of excellent bands and artists, and because we know you love to support us and them, and we are reliant on that and very grateful for it.

So, in order to attempt to fix the problems we had (the problem that we had with iTunes never pulling shows in on time in particular which meant they were irregular anyway), I have decided (at least temporarily to see how it turns out) to  take a  radical twist and abandon 'That Friday Feeling', and instead put shows out regularly, but randomly. So for instance one week, you may get a  show on Wednesday, and the next not at all, but the following week there might be one Monday and Friday. This will also make it easier for us to track statistically and easier timewise for me to keep up with a regular flow of episodes.

There will also be more text blogs inbetween to keep you up to date with stuff, some relevant to bands, some unrelated.

We will be (as ever, but more so) constantly monitoring stats and giving you updates on who is downloading and from where, keep track on when there are stats spikes when we feature certain bands, and if there are we will play them again (and make this widely known), or give them features, which will also provide a  little competition between the artists and encourage them to help promote themselves as well.

VQS will remain, for now, hosted at Libsyn.com. Although we feel a little miffed that they have messed with things without our prior consent or at least without making us aware of issues, I feel that shifting the show elsewhere would be detrimental, and tantamount to dropping it altogether. We have done that before and it took a long, long time time build it back up and make it worthwhile.

Myself and the team would like to thank you for sticking with us and for your unshakeable support. We hope that you will stay with us (and encourage new listeners into the show) for a long time ahead, so that we can all get to hear more fresh and exciting tunes.

Hi Guys,

Firstly, our apologies for lack of last week's show with no explanation. There will also not be a  show this week either.

Basically, we are taking time out to assess various issues with the show. Izzie has given the following statement:

'Due to various anomalies caused by mechanical error (not by ourselves), and issues that have taken place without us being forewarned, we have lost links (which are irretrievable) that many of our listeners have been using to stream the show. This, of course, has meant that many of you have been unable to access episodes reliably and has led to a complete screw up of our statistical system.

In addition, (and, partially I think as a result of the above), iTunes has not been pulling our episodes regularly from Libsyn (and we are unsure why- but the buck seems to be passing from one to another). This has led to uncertainties on our listeners' part as to when or whether new shows are available, which of course is unacceptable, and since iTunes is our highest download outlet, it is causing erratic and hugely dipping stats.

The process needed to attempt to fix these problems is highly time consuming, and basically requires a complete restart/rethink and rebuild on our part in order to get our listeners back to the show- and I personally have to assess whether or not I can afford that time in my current circumstances.

I am, as you know, dedicated to the promotion of new music- but it will take a little time to figure out the feasibilities of the problem. I hope that you will continue to support us in the meantime, and thank you enormously for your patience.- izzie.'

We are experiencing some technical difficulties at our host site which is resulting in weird statistical phenomena.

We are currently hard at work trying to track down the root of the problem, but are getting no support from Liberated Syndication, so unfortunately we cannot put an estimate on how long it will take to fix.

If you are lucky enough to be reading this, then you clearly download differently from those experiencing problems, however as we attempt different fixes, you may find your ability to do so fluctuates.

Well, I know you're all itching to hear VQS 143 but today was the only day that I could fit my tattoo session into this week, so I'm going to keep you in suspense until Monday and tell you about my tattoos.
For those of you into tattoos, this is an ongoing thing with me. Basically I'm addicted. I get some ink done and then a few months down the line I want the colours changing- or something adding on- (inbetween I get other bits recoloured). Yeah, I know, I'm fickle but I can think of worse things to be addicted to.
Actually 2  years ago I had the half sleeve done- it's a  Japanese flower garden- my own design, inked by Joel Hardy a very talented friend of mine.
It's faded a  bit- and  I said from the outset that I didn't want my tattoos to get washed out and look like they look on old men- bad analogy, I know, but you get the picture.
Also i was bored with the pastel colours and the 'water colour' effect that we'd applied to some of it, and thought it was time to breathe some life into it, make it brighter and more 3D. So that's what we started last week- and so, no doubt it will continue for several more weeks until either I get my life back or Joel gets fed up with listening to me rant on in his ear. (probably I 'll run out of £50s first).

I've promised certain people (several times actually) that 'this is it' and  'no more', but, you know there's always another reason.
After I had the sleeve done, I promised the 'no more' thing- but last August I lost my treasured father (as some of you will remember) and so the gun came out again to have a tribute to him tattooed on my wrist (as an exception to the promise) - his initials, blended with his RAF number, surrounded by forget-me-nots. My friend tells me it looks romantically silver in the light - the sad (but unintentional) irony is that realistically it basically emphasises that we're all just a number at the end of the day. It's not a  place I like tattoos if I'm honest, on the inside of the wrist - but it's a place where I can choose to reflect if and when I want to, and I like that.

There are other inks (of course)- the coloured Japanese dragon lurking at the base of my back like some kind of vaguely sophisticated 'tramp stamp' ; The 'all seeing' black and emerald tribal eye and dying sunflower creeping up the right side of my stomach (which was supposed to emphasis the abs- erghum) and the tiger lilies which start on my right shoulder blade and creep up my shoulder one way and trail right down my spine to the top of the dragon.
Told you I was addicted.
So there you are- my inky lifestory in a slightly deep nutshell.

The photo attached was taken about half an hour ago when the skin was still burning.., but that's gone now and I'm hungry so I'll leave you to the archives til I catch you next week ;)
